The other day I discovered artist and composer lenses by Jimmie at Jimmiescollage.com
The artist and composer study are based on Charlotte Masons teaching method. Both seem very easy and doable and I will be implementing this as part of our homeschooling next year.
Basically with the artist study you pick an artist for 12 weeks and look at the artist's work. You can pick a different piece for each day or you can study one piece of art for two weeks. You let the child study the work for a few minutes and let the child tell you what they remember from the art. You can also ask questions if they are stuck such as
1. What do you see in the painting?
2.How would you describe the people in this picture? etc.
The artist study will take just a few minutes to accomplish each day.
For our first artist we will study Monet.
The composer study is just as easy to implement as the artist study. You pick a composer for a 12 week period and listen to various compositions. You can easily listen while eating lunch. For our first composer study we will listen to several pieces by Mozart.
